Often times, disasters can be made worse if you are not prepared. In California, disasters can occur at any time - whether it be the flu, earthquakes or wildfires. Many people don't view the flu as a major disaster, but it can quickly escalate into an emergency. The CDC provides helpful tips on how to prevent the flu or how to act if you do get the flu.


Since I live in San Diego, wildfires are a common event in my area. Every year, wildfires occur and destroy entire ecosystems. Because of the nature of wildfires, it is so important to prepare well in advance. You can start by creating a checklist of steps you need to take in case of an emergency. Moreover, an emergency pack filled with water bottles, basic food supplies and necessities can be helpful for a quick escape. This helpful infographic presented by the CDC gives some helpful tips in case of a wildfire.
