M10.5 Occupational Safety & Health Organization
The World Health Organization (WHO) has presented a global strategy for occupational health, as a result of the WHO Collaborating Centres in Occupational Health. Approximately 45% of the world's population is actively in the workforce, and health is a strong indicator of working capacity. Countries should help improve and maintain occupational health and safety. Some challenges include chemical exposures, population aging, and mobility issues. Priorities for the program would be to strengthen international and national policies, development of healthy work environments, and establish collaboration for occupational health and other activities and services. This is relevant for everyone who is in the workforce, as these goals can apply to every field. A more detailed strategy document is available on the WHO website for employer planning related to occupational health and safety.
