M11.5 Zero Waste Life

The youtube video about Lauren Singer living a zero waste life is truly inspirational. She brings up an excellent point that we often look to other people's waste, but don't realize that waste is all around us. Honestly, I am not one to be very concerned about the amount of waste I produce. I mostly try not to pay attention to it so I don't have to feel guilty, but if I took the time to assess my waste production I think I would be very alarmed. One thing I've done after taking this class is to try to be more mindful of the types of foods I'm eating, such as choosing organic, non-genetically modified foods. One way to go about this is to do my grocery shopping at farmers markets where foods are not packaged in plastic containers. Another option is to be more mindful of the amount of things I buy. The more things I purchase, the more things that end up going into the trash. Even though I don't think I will be a perfect zero waste person any time soon, I am definitely trying to be more mindful about the amount of waste I produce.
